AMU spokesperson Rahat Abrar said, “We have decided to celebrate Rahman's Oscar victory by presenting him the doctorate degree at the upcoming annual convocation to be organized on the campus Mar. 25.”

The executive council of the AMU has decided to award D. Lit (Honoris Causa) to music maestro, Allah Rakha Rahman popularly known as A.R. Rahman. He is the first Indian to achieve two Oscars-one for best original score and another for best song ''Jai Ho'' in “Slumdog Millionaire”.
