Lafangey Parindey: A yawnful experience

The very title of the movie ‘Lafangey Parindey’ seems to be misguiding enough and the movie has a very low connection with it.

Lafangey Parindey

Starring: Neil Nitin Mukesh, Deepika Padukone, Piyush Mishra and others

Director: Pradeep Sarkar

Producer: Yash Raj Films

Genre: Drama

The only catch in the mediocre movie that will seem a torture for the audience expecting the film to be a fast-paced one is the debut pairing of Deepika Padukone and Neil Nitin Mukesh.

Screenplay of the movie is set in the backdrop of the Mumbai chawls and the common foul street slangs used by Mumbaikars form a major part of the dialogues. “Aisi jagah laat maroongi, puri zindagi pakad ke baitha rahega”, is one of Deepika’s lines in the movie.

While Padukone portrays the role of Pinky, a blind local girl who is an excellent ice skater and aims to make it big, while Neil plays Nandu, a local fighter of Tilak Wadi , who falls in love with Pinky.

He fights his opponents blindfolded and wins fights for his godfather Usman. On the other hand, Pinky detests Tilak Wadi and dreams of winning a talent show.

Performances
While the movie falls flat on the story, Neil with his heart throbbing looks, has performed well but he is not able to save the movie as the appeal is lost in the first half only.

Deepika also puts a good performance and the best part is her dance. A cool attempt at a suicidal plot by Pradeep, the movie is watchable only because of Neil and Deepika.

The dance competition and its follow-up is very boring and leaves no stones unturned in putting the audience to sleep, but the scenes are saved only because of Padukone, but that too, not for long.

Like all other Bollywood flicks, this one also has cops backing out of the crime on learning that a love story is involved. The typical dialogue “Toh yeh love story hai” are repeated here too.

Watch the movie only if nothing else to do and otherwise avoid it. Watch some Hollywood movie.

Not advised for those looking for fun.
