Salman Khan's Veer fails to impress

Mumbai, January 23 -- Veer is finally here. The epic saga that features Salman Khan as a Pindhari clan warrior has been released throughout the nation.

Veer

Director: Anil Sharma
Cast: Salman Khan, Sohail Khan,
Mithun Chakraborty, Zarine Khan
Music Director: Sajid Wajid
Prod. House: Eros International
Run Time: 3 hours
Marks for the Movie: 3/10

This is the first movie where you can’t blame Salman for his acting, dialogue delivery skill and even his story. The movie is not something that one would have expected.

The film has received a story treatment of the 1980s (Dharam Veer) and 2008 (Jodhaa Akbar). This movie had been conceptualized well, but the film’s screen writer ShaktiMaan didn’t have the patience to develop the plot any further.

So, he borrowed liberally from wherever he could, be it Gladiator, Troy or our own Mard starring Big B. So, the movie is not an entertaining Independence era saga, but somewhat of a romantic rollercoaster that also focuses on how India got its independence with some battlefield sequences pitched in here and there.

1980’s are back, at least in Bollywood movies
The movie has a Jodhaa Akbar inspired battlefield scene at the start, which increases your hopes for something more. But the regular song and dance routine of Bollywood could not be denied an important role in the movie. In fact, the movie seems to be an effort to revive the trend of classic Bollywood movies of 1980’s.

So much so, that in an attempt to confirm to the genre of the warring tribes’ love stories of 1980’s, the movie has been written like formula movies of those days. It also has the lost and found formula of Manmohan Desai’s movies and love at first sight in college campuses.

Final comments
Taking about the performances, Zarine Khan is as weak in acting department as her reported look-alike Katrina Kaif. The chemistry between Salman and her is very frail. Mithun Chakraborty, who plays Salman’s father and the leader of the Pindhari tribe has also put in an average performance in the movie.

We will give Veer a 3/10 rating. If you are keen on watching this movie, do so because of the melodious songs like "Surili Akiyon Wale" and Salman’s flexed biceps.

no one has a guts for making this type of film a super duper hit but it is only salman khan by which the film is creating records. There in north india single plexes there is no ticket available as the shows are going houseful

Veer is something which we haven't seen so far in bollywood...you can't compare it with any other stupid hollywood movie...If some one is making movie on the past the basic things are supposed to be the same...so those who say that it has some elements of braveheart or troy or jodha akbar are stupid ppl...the critics always have problem with salman khan but we all salman khan fans love our hero...
Veer is outclass and salman khan has done a fabulous job in it...Keep rocking salman we love you...
