‘Wake Up Sid’ is the story of an irresponsible boy’s transformation into a responsible young and confident man. The movie stars Ranbir Kapoor and Konkana Sen in the lead pair.
Here goes the story. Siddharth Mehra, played by the talented Ranbir Kapoor, hails from a rich family and his every demand is fulfilled before he utters it. His lazy and careless attitude towards life continues even after he finishes college, and he is completely aimless in life.
Now enters Aisha, played by Konkona Sen Sharma, who aspires to find her own self and become a writer, and things completely change. Sid fails in his graduation and after a spat with father Ram Mehra, played by Anupam Kher, he is left without any home and money.
Aisha comes to his aid for shelter, but now he has no option but to do something to live and prove to his father that he is not useless.
Is Sid able to find his aim in life? Does he give up his careless attitude? The answers and his love story with Aisha form the rest of the story.
Simplicity and the fresh treatment in the screenplay make the movie appeal to the viewers. The unique chemistry between the lead pair and the simple daily day-to-day dialogues also add to the USP of this movie that promises to entertain.
Talking about the performances, Ranbir Kapoor portrays the character of Sid brilliantly. Konkona Sen also impresses and plays her part confidently.
Even the other actors have done a decent job in this youthful movie in which Rahul Khanna appears in cameo role.
Though the movie maintains a good pace, it slows down considerably in the second half. But that does not fail to capture the viewer’s attention.
Overall, the movie has a fresh feel to it even though Sid’s character draws some inspiration from Hrithik’s character in ‘Lakshya’ and Aamir’s character in ‘Dil Chahta Hai’.
It is a good movie to watch and is for all kinds of people. So go on, grab your popcorns and cola and hit the theatres to watch ‘Wake Up Sid’.
