“The Stoneman Murders”: Dull and boring

In “The Stoneman Murders”, starring Kay Kay Menon, debutant director Manish Gupta tried to create spine chilling gothic but failed to convince audience with his sagging script, feeble conclusion and poor acting.

The flick is based on the mysterious serial killings in Mumbai in 1983 when several sleeping pavement dwellers were crushed to death by a psycho killer.

Film starts with murder scene and a huge stone at the site of murder. After nine murders under similar circumstances, the mysterious killer disappears. Few years later, similar killings are reported in Kolkata.

While Mumbai police files had termed these serial murders as “unsolved”, Manish Gupta creates a fictional thriller around these murders, attempting to explain what happened and why the mystery remained unsolved. The idea was convincing but the implementation was terrible.

The climax is both flaccid and predictable. Kay Kay Menon, playing a police officer, has tried to work hard but fails to create any suspense or thrill.

“The Stoneman Murders” is recommended only for those who like dull and boring flicks; rest of you try something else.
