Biography

One of the manliest and debonair stars of Bollywood, Vinod Khanna was born on Oct. 6, 1946 in Peshawar, Pakistan. His father, KC Khanna was a businessman in textiles, dyes and chemicals. Khanna has three sisters and a brother.

Vinod Khanna studied at Queen Mary’s school and St. Xavier’s High School and graduated from Sydenham College.

His Bollywood career kicked-off with supporting or villainous roles during the 1970s in movies, ‘Purab Aur Paschim’, ‘Aan Milo Sajna’ and ‘Man ka Meet’.

But he got his first break in Gulzar’s ‘Mere Apne’ with Meena Kumari and the movie was a success. These movies lead the path for him to become one of the leading actors of his generation and was named among the legends of his time like Amitabh Bachchan, Sunil Dutt and Rishi Kapoor.

He even worked with renowned actresses like Shabana Azmi in ‘Amar Akbar Anthony’, Rekha in ‘Khoon Pasina’ and Sridevi in ‘Chandni’.

Though he made few appearances in the 90s, made a few notable one's in movies like ‘Parampara’ and ‘Kshatriya’. He was last seen in ‘Dabangg’ as Salman Khan’s step father.

In real life, Vinod Khanna has been married twice. He has two sons Rahul and Akshay with his first wife Geetanjali. Both his sons are well-established actors in the industry.

Besides, Khanna has two daughters Sakshi and Shraddha with his second wife Kavita.
