Bhanurekha Ganesan, alias Rekha, is a renowned Tamil as well as Bollywood actress.
Rekha’s father is the legendary actor of Tamil cinema, Gemini Ganesan and her mother, Pushpavalli is a well-known Telugu actress.
She was born on Oct. 10, 1954 at Chennai, India. Despite the fact that she was an illegitimate daughter to these couple, it did not stand in her way of achieving eminence.
Rekha starred in a bunch of films as a child artist and later stepped into lead role with the movie ‘Goadalli CID 999’. Her first Hindi movie ‘Anjana Safar’ had to deal with censorship problems because of an explicit scene and was released a decade later.
Rekha’s debut venture in Bollywood was ‘Sawan Bhadon’, with which she accomplished great heights in the wink of an eye.
She played a lot of roles that demanded glamor and glitz. She was widely commended for her character role in the movie ‘Do Anjaane’, alongside Amitabh Bachchan.

She jolted the Bollywood industry by surprise when her secret affair with the then married Amitabh Bachchan came in limelight. Ironically, the three of them were casted in the movie ‘Silsila’, which was an exact depiction of this triangular affair.
