Bollywood’s kissing queen a.k.a. Mallika Sherawat, originally known as Reema Lambha, was born on Oct. 24, 1976 in a conservative family in Rohtak, Haryana.
She mesmerized the B-Town with her curvaceous figure and seductive looks. She took her mother’s maiden name ‘Sherawat’. This bombshell of Bollywood was educated at Delhi Public School and also majored in Philosophy from the Miranda House, Delhi University.
Mallika was employed as an air hostess before entering the showbiz. She even got married to Jet Airways pilot Captain Karan Singh Gill, but ended in divorce later on.
Before donning the big screen, she did a number of TV commercial opposite big names like Big B for BPL ad, King Khan for Santro ad and a few others.
Her debut movie as a lead actress was ‘Khwahish’ which received serious criticisms for the huge number of kissing scenes on-screen with her lead pair. Her next major release ‘Murder’, based on the Hollywood movie ‘Unfaithful’, was critically acclaimed and the movie went on to become one of the box-office hits of the year.
Mallika took the international screen for a spin with her Chinese movie ‘The Myth’ alongside Jackie Chan. She took the Cannes Film Festival by storm when appeared for the promotion of this movie by sporting diamonds worth Rs. 45 million sponsored by Orra Diamonds. Time Magazine’s Richard Corliss articulated her as ‘the next best thing’.
Her item number ‘Mayya Mayya’ in the movie ‘Guru’ was a big hit.
Mallika has a bizarre credit of being the first Indian woman to be offered to pose nude for the Playboy magazine cover. She has completed the shoot for the Hollywood movie ‘Politics of Love’ set during Barack Obama’s Presidential campaign.
