Jennifer Aniston’s use of R-word upsets Akki

According to the latest tabloid reports, Bollywood Khiladi, Akshay Kumar is quite upset with Hollywood actress Jennifer Aniston’s use of R-word on the national U.S. television.

The actress joked with the use of the word on Regis and Kelly show. She said, “Yes, I play dress up! I do it for a living, like a retard!”

Akki to start ‘Ban the R-word’ campaign
Jennifer might have used the word as a joke, but it has stirred criticism. Aniston’s use of this word has been criticized the international groups fighting for the rights and wellness of the disabled.

The Special Olympics Committee, a global organization that hosts bi-annual games for sport star with disabilities, is annoyed with Jennifer’s use of word.

As quoted by Indiatimes, an official said, “The pervasive use of the R-word, even in an off-the-cuff, self-deprecating manner, dehumanises people with intellectual disabilities and perpetuates painful stereotypes that are a great source of suffering and negative stigma.”

Interestingly, Akki, the brand ambassador of Special Olympics Bharat, has decided to start a campaign ‘Ban the R-word’, to ban the usage of the word retard.

The actor will also highlight the need of acceptance of mentally and physically challenged people and consider them as an equal part in the society. This will, in turn encourage their abilities.
