Malik vanished after leaving the sets of Bollywood horror film, 'Mumbai 125 km', at Film City in Goregaon on December 16, and was untraceable since then.

The film's director, Hemant Madhukar, disclosed, "Veena was shooting with us from 6pm to 6am for the last 15 days. From Thursday evening to the time she disappeared from the movie sets, Veena seemed distracted and upset."

The missing report led to rumors in the media that Veena had slipped into Pakistan through Wagah border wearing a burqa to renew her visa.
