'Rockstar,' which is Imtiaz’s fourth flick after 'Love Aaj Kal', 'Jab We Met' and 'Socha Na Tha', has already created a lot of hype due to Ranbir and Nargis Fakhri’s onscreen chemistry.

Imtiaz Ali’s musical film Rockstar has been produced by Shree Ashtavinayak Cine Vision Ltd and Eros International.

Apart from Ranbir and Nargis, the film also stars Aditi Rao Hydari, Moufid Aziz, Kumud Mishra, Piyush Mishra and Shernaz Patel.

Even the late superstar Shammi Kapoor has done a special appearance in the film.

Talking about late actor’s last appearance, Ranbir said, “Shammi Kapoor was the one and only rockstar of Bollywood. My grandfather (Raj Kapoor) died when I was very young. So I considered him (Shammi) as my grandfather. We were very lucky to have him in the film.

“When he first came on the sets of the film he was very nervous. He behaved like a newcomer. He had a cameo in the film and he would ask Imtiaz to increase his role. He flirted with all the girls.”

Being a film based on music, 'Rockstar' has music scored by the music maestro A.R and the lyrics has been penned by Irshad Kamil and Mohit Chauhan.

The story and screenplay is by director Imtiaz Ali.

Story line
Janardan/ Jordan (Ranbir Kapoor) who is from a struggling middleclass family of Pitampura in Delhi dreams of becoming a ‘Rockstar’.

He faces humiliations and degradation on his path. He soon realizes that to become a ‘Rockstar’ one has to experience pain, as several big musical stars became successful after going through tough times in life.

Finally he chooses to woo college campus diva Heer Kaul, who is rich and arrogant, and has broken many hearts. Janardan hopes she will break his heart too.
