Esha’s sex appeal won the role in ‘Jannat 2’
Esha’s looks and more importantly, her sex appeal have helped her in winning the role in Bhatt’s film and with it, a fast track entry into Bollywood.
As per the information provided by a source, during the announcement of Jannat 2 by the co-producers, Fox Star Studios and Vishesh Films, Prachi was selected for the lead role. But, Prachi could not fit in with the requirements for the role as the filmmakers were looking for someone more sensual and decided to cast Esha, who gained their attention because of her sex appeal.
Prachi found the role uncomfortable
The source said, "Prachi was also not very comfortable with what she was offered. The actress had a word with the Bhatts and they mutually parted ways. That's when Mahesh Bhatt recommended the Bengali actress, Paoli Dam."
However, director Kunal Deshmukh didn’t find either of the two actresses fitting the role and decided to go for Esha who, he thought, had just the right sex appeal for the role.
Mahesh Bhatt was keen to offer the role to Paoli: Source
Though Mahesh Bhatt was eager to offer the role to Paoli; Kunal remained stuck on Esha and wanted to get her on-board. The source added, "Kunal was convinced about Esha, since the time he saw her. But it was a major task to convince Fox Star and Mahesh Bhatt.”
On being contacted by the media regarding this, Kunal confirmed, “Yes, I must say there were a lot of discussions before we finalized Esha Gupta, but I think she fits the role perfectly. And I must thank Bhattsaab and Fox Star for agreeing to my choice"
Commenting on the whole process of selection for the lead role of ‘Jannat 2’, Mahesh Bhatt said, “I wanted Paoli for the film, as she had the body language and the willingness to go all out for the film. Paoli had proven the willingness to meet the requirements of the narrative. But that's when Kunal positioned his case. He said that Jannat 2 is not Murder 2. While Murder depended a lot on erotica and titillation, Jannat should essentially depend on romance. He explained that by casting Paoli, we would be sending the wrong signals to the audience. He is the director and we always take the call according to the director's vision and we back that. So, I gracefully gave in."
The ultimate decision seems to have worked marvellously for Esha, who has got a dream debut in her kitty.
