Aditya Chopra initially wanted to rope in Tom Cruise for the role of Raj Malhotra in 'Dilwale...

The movie that has earned more than Rs 40 crore since its release just two weeks ago, has been in news as speculations on its Bollywood remake started doing the rounds even before the release.
Srinu Vaitla, director of the movie confirmed the news of a Hindi remake of the movie, saying, “Yes I am directing the Hindi version too, but the lead actor is not yet decided."
Talking about rumors that Salman is keen on starring in the film, he said, "Salman has not seen the film yet. He is likely to return from the US shortly and we have arranged for a screening for him on October 12 in Mumbai. After that, we will announce all the details."
Srinu to direct Hindi version too
Reports claim that Srinu, who was director of Telegu version of ‘Ready’, will also debut as a director in Bollywood with ‘Dookudu’ remake.
The busy director, who has been in demand ever since the Hindi version of ‘Ready’ was a huge hit in Bollywood, said, "I was asked to direct the Hindi remake of ‘Dhee’ starring Sanjay Dutt, but I was busy with South projects then and I couldn't take it up.”
According to sources, the Hindi remake will cost almost double the Telegu version with an approximate value of Rs 60 crore.
Actors keen on remakes
There seems to be a dearth of fresh scripts in Bollywood and this is evident with the recent movies, which are either sequels or remakes of South Indian or past blockbusters.
An industry source said, “Mega stars have been lined up for some blockbuster movies like ‘Don’ and ‘Agneepath’, starring Shahrukh Khan and Hrithik Roshan, respectively.”
