According to the box-office figures, the Shahid-Sonam starrer has managed to gross around 20.50 crore in its opening weekend.

The film, which has been surrounded by controversies ever since it went on floors, may find it difficult to compete with the year’s other bestsellers, say trade experts.

While the movie did a similar kind of business on Friday and Saturday, Sunday saw a little rise in the collections.

No celebrations for the ‘Mausam’ actress
When after overcoming all odds ‘Mausam’ finally hit the theaters on Sep. 23, the film’s heroine Sonam Kapoor unfortunately cannot celebrate the movie’s opening.

Well, as Sonam’s paternal grandfather Surinder Kapoor expired on Saturday, just a day after ‘Mausam’s release, the actress’s father Anil Kapoor, who had planned to throw a bash for his daughter, cancelled the celebrations.

Talking about the cancellation of the bash, producer Sheetal Talwar said, "Yes, Anil was really excited about the opening of Mausam. He decided on a party. But I guess God had other plans. He was really close to his father, and just grateful that he saw Mausam release. All the wonderful reviews that Sonam got really made her grandfather proud. Surinderji used to say Sonam was a better actor than Anil. He was very proud of her."

Superstar Hrithik Roshan is all praises for Shahid Kapoor’s latest offering ‘Mausam’.

After watching the flick, the B-town Greek god took to Twitter to shower praises on the venture.

"Mausam is a film made from the heart for the heart. @shahidkapoor needs a flaw! perfect combination of strength and sensitivity. Sonam looks ethereal and simply honest! wonderful moments...beautiful journey! Bravo!," posted Hrithik.

Happy with Hrithik’s remarks for his film, Shahid too expressed his gratitude on the social networking site.
