As per box-office figures, the Shahid-Sonam starrer has grossed around 9 crore on day 1.
A 9 crore collection on the opening day is not at all a bad start for the love saga that has been made on a budget of 35 crore.
‘Mausam’, for which Shahid gave nearly two years of his career, has been released across 1,900 screens, and according to reports, the film has opened to packed houses.
‘Mausam’ gets mixed response on its opening day
Shahid Kapoor’s ‘Mausam’, that has been creating much hype and hullabaloo ever since it went on floors, has reportedly received mixed response after its release today.
However, as per trade experts, the film is doing fairly better than Akshay Kumar’s ‘Speedy Singhs’, which also released on the same day.
Comparing the performance of ‘Mausam’ and ‘Speedy Singhs’, Trade Analyst Taran Adarsh told PTI, "The reports of `Mausam' are mixed. It will be interesting to see how the film performs. `Mausam' has one more week to score....While `Speedy Singh' opened to weak response.”
‘Mausam’s delayed release
The Pankaj Kapur directed ‘Mausam’ stars Shahid Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor as the lead pair.
The story revolves around Shahid, who plays an IAF officer, and his love interest Sonam Kapoor.
Though the film was initially slated to hit the cinema houses on Sept. 16, issues with IAF delayed its release to Sept. 23.
