I would like to see Maria's reaction—RGV

The ‘Not A Love Story’ filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma, who had earlier refused to show his film to the Neeraj Grover murder case convict Maria Susairaj, now apparently wishes to screen the movie for her and see her reaction.

Citing the reason why he has changed his mind, the moviemaker stated that at first he didn’t want to show the movie to the convicted Kannada actress as she had taken a legal action against him.

But now as the petition has been kept aside, Ramu wishes to bury the hatchet and know how closely Maria connects to the character inspired by her, which is played by Mahie Gill, in the film.

Stating why he wants Maria to see the film, RGV tweeted, "I refused to show Not A Love Story to Maria because she was threatening legal action, but now it has been kept aside, so I want to voluntarily show her the film.

“I am really keen to show Maria Susairaj the film on the basis of, like I always maintained that it has been inspired from her story (sic)."

"I woud like to see Maria's reaction on the film on account of how close her emotional state would have been to that of Mahie Gill's character," added the filmmaker.

This was the toughest role I’ve played till date—Mahie
Actress Mahie Gill, who portrays the character of the Kannada actress Maria Susairaj, the accused in the Neeraj Grover murder case, stated that it was very difficult to step into the boots of a real life person.

Playing the role of Maria Susairaj, which required Mahie to make-love with her costar in front of dead body onscreen, was not at all easy for the actress.

Sharing her shooting experience, Mahie articulated, “Little do they know how difficult it was for me to play a character inspired from a real life person (in her case, Maria Susairaj). This was the toughest role I’ve played till date — it drained me mentally.

“The initial bit was easy since I too have been a struggling actor in Mumbai but eventually, when there’s one man in the house and the other man knocking at the door or when the couple make out, with the dead body in the other room or even the interrogation scene — these have been really taxing.”

‘Not A Love Story’ to release this Friday
Ram Gopal Varma’s controversial film ‘Not A Love Story’ will be releasing as scheduled i.e. on Friday, Aug. 19, as the Bombay High Court has passed its verdict in the favor of the film.

Maria Susairaj and Emile Jerome, the convicted in the Neeraj Grover Murder case on whom the film has been based, had filed a suit seeking stay on the release of the movie, as they felt it would tarnish their image further.

However, Justice SJ Vazifdar refused to grant relief to the suit and gave a green signal for the movie’s release.
