Watch ‘Aarakshan’ for only Rs. 20 in UP!

The ban imposed by the UP government on the screening of ‘Aarakshan’ in the state has turned out to be fruitless. Reportedly, the movie lovers in UP are watching the film on pirated CDs for just Rs. 20.

The recently released Prakash Jha’s venture, which is based on the sensitive social issue of caste-based reservations, was banned in a few states including, UP, Punjab and Andhra Pradesh, fearing a law and order problem following the release of the film.

While Punjab and Andhra Pradesh have lifted the ban of the movie, UP is yet to permit the screening of ‘Aarakshan’ in cinema houses.

Consequently, moviegoers, who wish to watch the film, have taken to pirated CDs to get their dose of entertainment.

Talking about the pirated CDs, a vendor told PTI, "The film released on Friday and by Saturday evening we had the pirated CDs with us. On the first day their was craze amongst people to watch the movie so we were selling it at Rs50 but now it is decreasing so we have reduced it to Rs20.”

Singh even said that he has ordered the police and entertainment section officials to cease the stores that are distributing pirated CDs.

"I have asked the police and entertainment section officials to cease these shops which are selling these pirated CD's," Singh told PTI.
