Now I have hits behind me—Abhay Deol

After his recent venture ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara’ left cash registers ringing at the box-office, the young star of the Deol clan, Abhay Deol has become quite optimistic about his career in the industry.

The actor, in a recent conversation with the tabloids, articulated that after having worked in the industry for almost six years, with no big achievement, he had almost lost interest and hope in the profession.

But, when his recent films namely, ‘Dev D’ and ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara’ garnered humongous accolades, he again became hopeful about his acting career, as now he has hits behinds him.

“My career was headed nowhere with this ‘alternate hero’ tag either. I thought it
would be best to quit instead of doing mediocre films that I couldn’t identify with. But things should change… now that I have hits behind me,” said Abhay.

“Now I have producers and directors approaching me for mainstream cinema too and I’m glad,” he added.

Abhay: The movies I selected had strong content
Talking about the former movies which he had signed, Abhay stated that all the films which he has done till date had strong content.

Though his movies were appreciated by the audiences, they failed to achieve commercial success, and this was bothering him.

Abhay revealed, “I knew the movies I was selecting had strong content and most turned out well too. That’s why they are talked about till today and hits on DVDs. But I was still frustrated because commercial success is a validation I was not getting. Dev D and now Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara have changed that.”

Abhay’s upcoming movies
The upcoming movies of Abhay Deol, who is presently riding high on the success of ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara’, include ‘Shanghai’ and ‘Singularity’.
