Association of film stars with reality shows or game shows on small-screen has raised the bar of TV entertainment.


These telly series’ attract huge audiences and make the silver-screen biggies who host the show more popular by providing them an opportunity to interact with the participants and spectators directly.

Well, one such show is ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati, hosted by megastar Amitabh Bachchan, whose coveted ‘Hot-seat’ has become a dream for children, housewives and even older citizens!

Here is a list of some Bollywood actors, who have stolen millions of hearts with their splendid performance on small-screen.

1. Salman Khan
The country had never imagined that Sallu, well-known for his macho image and love affairs, could rise up to become a star anchor on TV. But he did.

For one complete year, the most charismatic sentence on Indian TV was “Kitne pratishat Bhartiya….” in the actor’s patented accent! Salman repeated the success of his first show ‘Dus Ka Dum’ in the consecutive year with star guests.

In 2010, he hosted the fourth season of the reality show ‘Bigg Boss’ and made it the most memorable season ever. Coupling this with his Being Human campaign, the actor has a more humane image among fans after appearing on TV.

2. Amitabh Bachchan
‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ is one show which changed the prime time TV indulgence of India from daily soaps to the unmatchable charisma of the Big B in the game show.

It’s the first ever show which promised common people a chance of fulfilling their dreams. And the one reason for its popularity was its host Amitabh Bachchan with his baritone voice and historical one-liners like ‘Deviyo aur Sajjano’ and ‘Lock kiya Jaye’, that took the country by storm, lovingly.

Even today, contestants request him to quote lines from his father’s ‘Madhushala’ and take immense inspiration from his personality on the show.

After hosting ‘Bigg Boss Season 3’ he came closer to the reality TV and made it look even more stylish and interesting through his psychoanalytical presentation.

3. Shahrukh Khan
King Khan has the special honour of being associated with most number of TV shows till date. His charm and wit were equally popular whether it was on ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati Season-3’ or on ‘Kya Aap Panchvi Pass Se Tez Hain’.

When he anchored ‘Zor Ka Jhatka’, the reviews were rather discouraging, but the Baadshah of Bollywood didn’t give up on his energetic commentary to make the show humorous and witty.

He is the indispensable host at the award functions of ZEE Cine, Filmfare, Star and IIFA, often in pair with Saif Ali Khan and Boman Irani.

4. Akshay Kumar
B-town Khiladi Kumar became the most popular stunt actor in films and advertisements long ago. But, his popularity as a stuntman gained momentum after he hosted the famous reality show ‘Khatron Ke Khiladi’.

With his famous Casanova image, a show with 16 hot ladies, a perfect recipe of ‘Khiladi aur Haseena’, as often coined on TV is formed, and adventurous world-class stunts amaze viewers.

5. Farhan Akhtar
Deemed as the most eligible Stand-up comedian among all film actor/directors, Farhan proved his anchoring skills by means of the show ‘Oye, It’s Friday!’, aired on NDTV Imagine.

It was a chat show aired in 2009, featuring all Bollywood stars and some of the most talented artistes from the world.

The sad part was that it failed in TRPs and so a season 2 was not planned. Nevertheless, Farhan showed how irresistible a host and comedian he is through the show and not surprisingly, makes an entry in our countdown.
