Buzz is that the fire mishap occurred during the shooting of the climax scene of the movie which involved a fire sequence, but the fire spread with a sudden gust of wind and the onscreen scene became a real life scene.

“The scene required the ends of Sonam’s dupatta to catch fire and Shahid to then step in and stomp it out with his foot. However due to a sudden gush of wind, the fire spread faster than anticipated and before anyone could sense what was happening, the fire had crept up to Sonam’s body,” informed an insider to TOI.

Another source said that Sonam took time to sense the danger, but the brave hero who stood nearby hurried up towards her and stomped up the fire.

“He stomped out the fire with such force that it completely ripped the dupatta,” the source told the daily.

Shoot finished despite fire
The incident created panic among the unit, but Pankaj Kapur, Shahid and Sonam maintained their calm and went on to ask everyone to calm down and finish the shooting of the movie that is scheduled to release this September.

“But of course, new dupattas had to be arranged as the earlier was completely damaged,” said the source.

A close friend of Sonam confirmed the incident and said that Sonam thanked Shahid for saving her.

“But beyond becoming better friends, there were no other sparks flying between the two,” said the friend.

Shahid prefers being on Sonam’s side
Meanwhile, scuttlebutt has it that at his father Pankaj Kapur’s birthday bash, the handsome ‘Kaminey' actor was seen besides Sonam and he seemed to hang on to her throughout the party.

And reports claimed that Sonam was thinking of giving the party a skip because of her tiring schedule that day, but after Shahid insisted she agreed and came to the party.

“Sonam walked in late in the night and stayed almost till the end of the party and Shahid played the perfect host with her. He was by her side throughout,” confirmed a source.

Well, we can sense some sparks gathering momentum between the two!
