‘Ragini MMS’ leads at box-office

Telly queen Ekta Kapoor’s unsurpassed horror film ‘Ragini MMS’ has become the top grosser in its opening weekend.

Reportedly, the paranormal horror film has done as well as was estimated by analysts and registered nearly 45- 47.5 millions revenue in its first weekend.

The scariest movie till date made 12-13 million on the day of its release, Rs. 14-15 million on Saturday, and Rs. 17.5 million on Sunday.

The rush-hour for the movie was late evenings and night shows, while morning shows witnessed limited occupancy amongst theatres and multiplexes throughout the country.

How did the other movies fare?
Reportedly, three movies were released along with ‘Ragini MMS’, but the best results were garnered by Ekta’s horror flick.

The Amrita Rao starrer ‘Love U… Mr. Kalakaar!’ registered a very poor opening except in Gujarat, whereas Amole Gupte’s ‘Stanley Ka Dabba’ saw an above average opening at some places.

Collectively, both movies have not been able to cross even the 10 million mark.

The third movie was ‘Shagird’ starring Nana Patekar and the movie too did not have a high occupancy.

But still it did better than ‘Love U..Mr. Kalakaar!’, and ‘Stanley Ka Dabba’ by raking up 14-15 million in its debut weekend.

‘Ragini MMS’ sequel planned
Even though ‘Ragini MMS’ has not even completed one week of release, a confident Ekta Kapoor has started mulling about a sequel to it.

An insider said, “Since the movie was made with a very low budget of just a crore or so, and has fetched profits enough that inspired the producer for a sequel.”

“The sequel will drive the audience to the happenings that led to the death of the woman. ‘Ragini MMS 2’ might have a higher quotient of scary and sex scenes,” revealed sources.

Well, we do hope that ‘Ragini MMS 2’ releases soon!
