Through all rough patches, the Bhatts have stood by Sanjay Dutt. Even during his 1993 arrests, they have supported him wholeheartedly.
Now after fifteen years, Dutt was approached by Bhatts to star in one of their latest productions, to be directed by Kunal Deshmukh. But after accepting the offer, Dutt walked out of the project citing date problems.
Will Vivek Oberoi star in place of Dutt?
As Dutt has distanced himself from the project, it may appear to many that Dutt has shown his ingratitude by leaving the Bhatts stranded.
Now Bhatts are looking for Sanjay Dutt’s replacement. Mahesh Bhatt confirmed, “We are now looking for an alternative. We didn’t go to Sanjay because he is a star. We went to him because he is family. Now, we might even go with a fresh face.”
Sources in the industry believe that Vivek Oberoi is a prospective choice, who might replace Dutt. Oberoi has been part of the script sessions and most believe Bhatts are keen to have Vivek on board.
Even Mahesh Bhatt confirmed the news and said, “Vivek has met up with Mukesh and Kunal. He has been narrated the script. However,it will be premature to say that Vivek is on-board.But yes, Vivek had expressed his desire to be a part of the film and we would be happy to have him on-board."
Sanjay Dutt still part of Bhatt family
The Bhatts might be peeved with the way things have turned out. But keeping no hard feelings, Bhatts still believe that Sanjay Dutt is very much a part of their family.
Mahesh Bhatt said, “Well, Sanjay Dutt is a big man. He has a production house and his own compulsions. But that's fine. We went to him since he is one of us and he still remains so."
The Bhatts have been responsible for resurrecting Dutt’s career with ‘Naam’. Even Sanjay Dutt was part of their critically acclaimed film ‘Dushman’, where his performance was highly appreciated.
