First, the government of Goa alleged that the movie would spoil Goa's image in the minds of the people by projecting the state in the wrong sense and now, the latest troubling factor about the movie is a dialogue that supposedly insults women.
In one of the movie trailers, Bipasha Basu says, "Over here (in Goa)....liquor is cheap, and the women are cheaper.”
And it seems that the Shiv Sena is particularly infuriated by this depiction of women in the movie.
Shiv Sena's reaction
Goa does not seem to be taking things lightly as far as the movie is concerned, and people are quite outraged by the way the state is again and again depicted in a negative sense in the movie, starring Abhishek Bachchan and Bipasha Basu in the lead role.
"If Goa is a small state with a big heart that does not mean Goa is going to be kicked around. The film maker can choose any other place and use any other people as characters for his cheap thrills to fill his pockets. The Shiv Sena will just not allow and tolerate using Goa and its people as an advertisement for the sex trade and drugs," Philip D'Souza of the Shiv Sena said.
He said that already most of the state has been sold to foreigners and the film industry, and now, even the daughters of Goa have been targeted.
“We're going to protect the daughters of Goa, irrespective of caste, creed, color and political affiliation," he said.
Dignity of Goan women has been stripped—Shiv Sena
Alleging the movie of bringing a bad name to the women of Goa, the organization has asked the state government to do something and not let the film industry mar any city in such a way.
"The dignity of the Goan woman has been stripped. It is even shocking that Bipasha as a woman stoops so low. The very fact that she chooses to call the women of Goa cheap is despicable," said Shiv Sena.
Well, it seems that the movie-makers will have to answer quite some people, before the movie is finally released.
