Speaking about insomnia, Vidya stated that she has been suffering from insomnia from the age of 12 and is still finding ways to come out of this problem.
The actress, who will be creating awareness about how poor sleep can affect and make it more complicated to control diabetes, obesity and hypertension, said that because of lack of sleep, she was not losing weight.
“Only 3 years ago there was a realisation that it needed to change. I was really working very hard and then too I was putting on weight. I went to Pooja Makijha who said she will give me a diet and told me but if you don't sleep right you will never going to lose weight. More importantly my weight had become a talking point, an issue people were writing about that time. It was affecting me," said Vidya.
Vidya was fascinated with SRK’s sleeplessness stories
Earlier Vidya barely used to sleep for 3-4 hours as she had always believed that sleep was a waste of time and due to sleeplessness, she used to read or watch a film at night.
It’s learnt that the actress had followed this trend of not sleeping as she was fascinated with SRK’s four hours sleep stories.
Talking about SRK’s sleeplessness, Vidya stated, “I like to read at night or I watch a film. I felt like sleep was a waste of time. I always was fascinated with stories about Shah Rukh Khan and how he slept merely four hours. I thought I don't need more than 3-4 hours of sleep. Now I just lie and try to relax.”
Vidya says lack of sleep affected her metabolism
Vidya said that one should make it a point to sleep for 7-8 hours and getting a good night’s sleep is important.
Elaborating on the importance of sleep, Vidya recently spoke at length about the illness, which can affect metabolism and also the way one looks.
"There are several factors like stress, worries or may be you are just a hyperactive person. You need to calm down. How less sleep affected my metabolism, weight, hair, skin, mood and everything is all now realised," stated Vidya.
