What extends their image from their film characters is how they sell brands in ads. It always gets bigger and better, given the competition. And there needs to be a countdown.
Hence, below are the list of the top 5 endorsement campaigns, whose magic doesn’t cease the craving for our filmy stars and make our entertainment ‘Total Filmy’ be it the silver-screen or TV:
1. Mountain Dew Campaign by Salman Khan:
‘Dabangg’ star Salman Khan continues with his display of daredevilry. After being a messiah to many people in need, he proved his dauntless nature by performing a stunt in PepsiCo’s new Mountain Dew ad.
No wonder, he was an apt celebrity choice by the brand. The star, who embodies the tagline, 'Darr Ke Aage Jeet Hai', jumped off from 10,000 feet in a wingsuit. The 45-second TV commercial is perhaps the first spine-chilling commercial featuring the macho star.
“Everyone is afraid of something or the other at some point of his or her life. But if you try to run away from fear, you’d be tired and eventually fear will win. So the best way to overcome fear is to face it, run through it because 'Darr Ke Aage Jeet Hai',” Salman said in a statement.
2. Atithi Devo Bhava–Aamir Khan:
Known for his depiction of revolutionary activity throughout the country, be it the youth claiming its stake in the administrative structure, the educational and parenting system, or the way anti-crime organizations work, Aamir Khan has established himself as a brand ambassador of revolutions.
Contemplating his popularity among the people, the Government of India penciled in Aamir for its ambitious project of promoting India's rich heritage and culture among the tourists.
The enigmatic Khan is being projected as the Hero of Indian pride winning hearts of tourists. The 'Atithi Devo Bhava' campaign lights-up a sense of pride that India is shining as an endearing nation and not as an economic superpower alone.
Not to forget, Aamir is conducting this campaign without charging anything for his role, which shows the commitment this perfectionist actor holds as a brand ambassador.
3. Youngistan Meri Jaan-Ranbir Kapoor:
We think of Pepsi and we immediately get reminded of the spunk the youth has by the Gen-Y Icon Ranbir Kapoor. His energetic charisma turns everybody on in any visual performance.
The company has been able to make out that though the elder generation loves drinking it, its imaging from a new superstar like Ranbir will only upsurge their popularity in the youth's heart.
The role of a Pepsi brand ambassador is positively shouldered by him as he could re-establish the brand-image set by international icons like Sachin Tendulkar and Shahrukh Khan.
His recent ad, with cricketer Virender Sehwag, which teaches Viru the “Upar Cut” as dance steps is the new attraction of Pepsi’s World Cup ad campaign.
4. Aamsutra Slice Ad Campaign by Katrina:
Everyone is aware of her sexy moves in 'Sheila Ki Jawani' and her new Aamsutra Slice Ad Campaign has made her fans go gaga.
Kat has been endorsing PepsiCo's mango drink Slice since two years and not to forget, the commercials have turned out to be a huge hit and people seem to be enjoying the mango flavor.
Her latest ad with tagline 'Sabr Ka Phal Meetha Hota Hai' exhibits Katrina is a new sensuous look.
“Set in a magical, dream like forest, the campaign celebrates mango as the sweet fruit of patience. I also relate to the theme of ‘Sabr Ka Phal Meetha Hota Hai’ as it holds true to my life and my journey in Bollywood,” said Katrina.
5. Airtel Dil Jo Chahe… Paas Laye by Kareena:
One of the reigning queens of the tinsel villa, Kareena Kapoor teaches you how to live your life queen size not only on the silver-screen, but also in endorsements.
Being Airtel’s brand ambassador for the 3G campaign, the beautiful girl along with her beau Saif is now inspiring people to come closer in her new Airtel ad.
She exhibits how simply saying a “start” or “stop” will give you the power to stay connected to any of the services of your choice.
Though Airtel is a multi-ambassador brand, Kareena’s endorsement with them has been very special and innovative.
Special Mention:
Some of the ads that couldn't make it to our countdown, but still has made many eyeballs rolling:
Nescafe Ad: Karan Johar? Who? Uncle?
The brilliant commercial building moments of leisure between the dimple-cheeked girl Deepika Padukone and the MNIK director Karan Johar along with Purab Kohli was quite humorous and commendable.
Akshay Kumar in Thumbs Up: Akshay Kumar is shown doing dangerous stunts in every Thumbs Up ad and this time, he made it bigger by jumping from a valley, when he felt that all the breath-taking efforts he did for the soft drink was next to nothing.
