Well, such problems are now likely to solve soon as Information and Broadcasting Minister Ambika Soni announced the formation of a panel to audit the television content.
The decision was revealed by the minister after numerous Members of Parliament questioned her about the steps taken to “curb the vulgarity in TV reality shows”.
Committee to monitor the TV content
Contemplating too many complaints about the television content, Ambika Soni revealed the formation of a committee member, headed by a retired judge, in the Question Hour round in Lok Sabha on Tuesday, in order to keep an eye on the television content in India.
The committee will also consider the reviews of the society about the show with indecent matter.
“We are right on the threshold of announcing a self-regulatory mechanism to monitor content on television. This mechanism will take up complaints from the civil society regarding any objectionable content on private television channels,” said Ambika Soni.
Stringent steps against the vulgar content
Thereby announcing stiff steps against the vulgar content, Ambika Soni said that the government will not interfere in any case, until it's required.
And presently, there is no censor board for television and all the “content was regulated by the Cable Regulatory Act with some uplinking and downlinking criteria for the broadcasters.”
Soni clarified that no decision will be forwarded to courts like the shift of timings of 'Bigg Boss' from 9 pm to 11 pm, and all the steps against the objectionable content will be self-regulatory.
“We will not like to do anything which is struck down by the courts,” said Soni.
