Indeed, it was a tough competition as Bollywood's two famous glam actresses, Katrina Kaif and Aishwarya, were the last two choices for 'Heroine', after Kareena Kapoor opted out.

Initially, the script of 'Heroine' was penned considering B-town lasso Kareena Kapoor, but unfortunately, the thespian denied the project due to certain intimate love scenes in it.

Though no reports have been confirmed by the actress, director or producer, if everything goes as planned, then you might get to see Ash as the protagonist of the film.

Madhur's dream project 'Heroine'
Madhur's dream venture 'Heroine', to be produced by UTV Motion Pictures, is galvanized from the life of American actress-singer-model Marilyn Monroe. Kareena was supposed to enact the character of Mahi Khanna.

'Heroine' babbles the story of a girl who does not want to enter the phase of ambiguity, even when her career graph is declining.

Madhur reworks on his script for Ash?
Grapevine has it that the three time National award winning director Madhur Bhandarkar has reworked on his script for roping in Aishwarya Rai.

According to a little birdie, “Madhur Bhandarkar had finalised Kareena Kapoor for the lead role of Heroine however Kareena had some reservations about the love making scenes and she opted out of the film. Ever since there has been speculations that who will star in the film.

“Recently there were talks that Madhur is speaking to both Katrina and Aishwarya Rai for the film but it is Aishwarya Rai who was always on the director's mind. Madhur has also reworked on the script to suit Aishwarya Rai as it has been a long unfulfilled dream of Madhur to work with her.”

Madhur denies roping in Ash
If rumors are to be believed, Madhur had a hush-hush meeting with Aishwarya and the producer of the film Siddharth Roy Kapur. But presently, both the parties are tight lipped about revealing anything about the project.

As per a source, “The meeting happened last evening and the deal has more or less been sealed. The finances have to be worked out with UTV who are co-producing the film with Madhur."

However, Madhur rebuffed the rumors and said, “Frankly, I've yet to decide what to make next. Therefore, the question of casting Ash or Katrina for HEROINE just doesn't arise.

“In fact, I haven't even approached Ash or Katrina for the project in question. I am still vacillating what to make next. It could be a love story, it could be a comedy, it could be a realistic film… nothing is finalized. In fact, HEROINE may or may not happen immediately, since I've yet to take a call on it."
