Reportedly, the crooner and his manager were detained at the Indira Gandhi International Airport by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) officials on Feb. 13, while catching a flight for Dubai, and nearly, Rs 60 lakh was recovered from the duo.
The 16-member troupe of Rahat was also detained and the singer was interrogated for nearly 10 hours on Thursday, about his shows in India and his earnings.
“The duo will be allowed to leave the country after they pay the penalty imposed on them by the Customs Department. The foreign exchange will remain confiscated,” an official sources said.
After a thorough investigation into the case, the DRI charged the duo with violation of terms of the FEMA and Customs Act.
Rahat thanks Rehman Malik
Meanwhile, stating that he would reach Pakistan anytime on Monday, Rahat thanked Interior Minister of Pakistan, Rehman Malik “for providing help during the legal troubles over the past week.”
During a telephonic conversation with Malik on Sunday, he said, “It has been a tough week for me but I want to thank you for standing by me during this time.”
Rahat also thanked Pakistan High Commissioner to India Shahid Malik, for the efforts made by him during the singer’s detention.
The singer, recently, won an award for the best singer for his track ‘Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji’, from 'Ishqiya'.
Shiv Sena warns industry against working with Pak artistes
According to a recent letter issued by Shiv Sena arm Maharashtra Cinema Television Sena (MCTS), all production houses, organizers, event managers and media houses have been warned against working with Pakistani artistes.
“We at MCTS would like to inform you that henceforth if any of the above mentioned fraternities indulge in such an act wherein the Indian soil is used for Pakistani performers we are determined to teach them a lesson in our Shiv Sena style," said the letter.
The letter was made public to the media by filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt, who said that such threats could work against strengthening ties between the people of the two countries.

Rahat shouldn't be allowed to enter India again. This is a story of a smuggler who smuggled lots of wealth from India over a period of time and got released with a very cheap punishment, where according to customs laws he should have been imposed a penalty around three times of the amount caught, i.e. 2 Crores.
This Indian government is very soft, they came under pressure from Pakistan govt. what they will do if the pressure tactic being applied by USA. See the Pakistani govt. they are not bowing to America's pressure.
