Sanjay Dutt gears up for small screen
Though the macho actor is yet to clarify himself, his spokesperson commitment has substantiated the speculation. He said, “The project is there, but then we can’t reveal anything right now as it would be premature. He’s in talks with some channels.”
A source close to baba said, “Sanjay is in the middle of finalizing the deal.” Though there’s nothing in black and white, his frequent meetings with some show producers has added fuel to the fire.
“It’s going to be a game show where Sanjay will play a host. He’s quite upbeat with the way things are shaping up,” added a source.
Sanjay remained elusive and could not be contacted for comment, but his spokesperson confirmed the news. If the buzz is to be believed, then Sanjay is getting calls from various show producers almost on daily basis.
They (producers) are devising a unique concept, which goes perfect with his dynamic personality. Most likely, it’s going to be a game show.
A start of new trend
TV is no more for rookies. It’s catching the fancy of big film stars as well. We saw Big B in 'Kaun Banega Crorepati', SRK in 'Kya Aap Paanchi Paas Se Tez Hai', and Sallu in 'Dus Ka Dum' and 'Bigg Boss 4'.
Trade analysts believe that it’s a healthy trend.
“Besides monetary gains, the actor gets a platform to reach almost every household. With perceptions changing and TV adopting experimental ways, it’s turning out to be an amazing option,” said one of the analysts.
What about 'Dus Ka Dum'?
Whether 'Dus Ka Dum' (DKD) will be shelved, or is Dutt going to replace existing host Salman? The question still remains unanswered.
When the news regarding Sanjay striking a deal with some other channel came, it almost put rumors to rest, but it seems there’s a twist in the tale now. A day later the news came that DKD might be canceled as Sallu is keen on pursuing his other interest, 'Bigg Boss Season 5'.
The Mumbai Mirror reported that the show has been shelved because Sallu has refused to do it. And Sanjay, who was considered best for the job, has also not been signed because of certain reasons.
“They were mulling over the possibility to have Sanjay on board. But later it was decided that only Sallu would do justice to the role. But in all this Salman’s focus was shifted to Bigg Boss,” a source said.
Amidst all this, the channel has put DKD on hold and is focusing on 'Kaun Banega Crorepati' and 'The X Factor'.
