The 47-year-old actor, who showcased his talent in over 50 movies, including blockbusters like 'Gadar-Ek Prem Katha,' is survived by his wife and three children.
"His daughters are teenagers and his son is even younger. It's such a sad thing to happen to a man who always made everyone laugh," said Raj Babbar's son Arya Babbar, who had worked closely with Vivek.
Attack triggered by liposuction
According to doctors, Shauq’s death was triggered by a liposuction session he had undergone at the Karkhanis Nursing Home in Thane prior to his death.
Dr. Vijay Surase, a cardiologist at Jupiter Hospital, said, "His medical history shows that in 2003 he underwent a major angioplasty operation and three stents were put in his heart. He was prescribed blood-thinning medicines called Aspirin and Clopidogrel. But he discontinued them prior to his liposuction operation."
He had already suffered three cardiac arrests before he was bought to the emergency at Jupiter hospital on Jan. 3.
"His heart had already stopped functioning. Three emergency three shocks had also been given to him. He was on life support system but he went into coma," said Dr. Dayanand Kumbla, another cardiologist there.
His condition got critical after the surgery and he succumbed to septicemia on Jan. 10.
Deol family in mourning
The news bought a sudden air of gloom to the Deol family members, who have worked with Shauq in various films.
Besides working with Bobby Deol, Shauq was close friends with Sunny after having worked with him in movies like 'Maa Tujhe Salaam', 'Indian,' 'Champion,' and 'Gadar'.
Sunny said,"This has come as a complete shock out of nowhere."
"We were so looking forward to the release of our film Yamla Pagla Deewana. This tragedy has clouded our excitement completely," he said.
