Incidentally in this film, Akki will be seen sharing screen with his real-life mom-in-law and gorgeous actress Dimple Kapadia for the first time.

Dimple plays Akshay’s mom
In the film, Akshay plays a cricketer Parghat Singh Kahlon whose character has been inspired by Monty Panesar’s life. Evidently he had been the first Sikh who managed to represent England’s cricket team.

In the flick, Dimple Kapadia will be seen portraying the role of his mother and Rishi will play his father.

The story of the film which revolves around a father and son is about a fourth generation large Sikh joint family in Southall, London, UK that has 22 members living under one roof, and where the young and older generation in their family are facing difference of opinion.

Sources revealed that Akshay’s character in ‘Patiala House’ is of a 34-year-old ex-cricketer who is someone forced to forgo his dream and follow his father’s ideal.

Meanwhile, the producers of ‘Patiala House’ Mukesh Talreja and Bhushan Kumar have stated that everyone who watches the flick will be able to identify with the character.

There has been extensive research done for ‘Patiala House’ as Akshay’s character has been taken from real life and it’s heard that director Nikhil Advani had also done a lot research on cricketers.

Speaking about ‘Patiala House,’ the director stated, “The essence of Patiala House is pursuing your dream when life gives you a second chance. In this pursuit, Akshay happens to be a cricketer, but he could been a musician or a poet. It can be your story or mine. Patiala House is the story of the Kahlon family, and their travails."
