Apparently, the hit item number 'Munni Badnaam Hui' from ‘Dabangg’ was first surrounded with the ‘Zandu Balm’ controversy and now it has been dragged to court for being indecent.
Accompanying it is 'Sheila Ki Jawani' from ‘Tees Maar Khan’ that features Katrina in her sexiest avatar.
Reportedly, a public interest litigation has been filed in the Lucknow Bench of Allahabad High Court by a woman, on Thursday. According to her the songs are against decency and morality.
About the PIL
The PIL has been registered by Nutan Thakur, who has appealed to the High Court to halt ‘Tees Maar Khan’ from releasing, till ‘Sheila Ki Jawani’ is not removed from it. Nutan also requested to ban public screening of ‘Dabangg’, as long as ‘Munni Badnaam Hui’ was not erased from it.
Alleging that the songs were being thrown at the public without obtaining any certificates, she said, “This is completely against Cinematography Act-1952 because in many cases, such songs, dances, scenes, dialogues do not get certificates later on. But by that time they have been publicly exhibited to a very large extent.”
She has appealed to the court to order the Censor Board and Ministry of Information and Broadcasting to abstain from releasing any material, before a certificate has been issued to the films.
“Producers of Tees Maar Khan — Twinkle Khanna, Shirish Kunder and Ronnie Screwvala, its director Farah Khan, producers of Dabangg — Arbaaz Khan, Malaika Arora Khan and Dhillin Mehta, its director Abhinav Kashyap, Censor Board and the Union of India — through the Secretary of Information and Broadcasting — have been made respondents in the PIL,” said a source.
Emami hangs on to Munni, Sheila
After getting ‘Munni Badnaam Hui’ for its Zandu Balm brand, Emami has now roped in ‘Sheila Ki Jawani’ for its Boro Plus brand.
"We are using certain portion of the song 'Sheila Ki Jawani' and have integrated in such a way that both the brand (Boro Plus) and movie is promoted," informs Director of Emami, Harsh Agarwal.
