Rakta Charitra - 2: The Preview

After receiving critical appreciation for ‘Rakta Charitra’ and making profits at the box-office (movie did well especially in south), director Ram Gopal Varma is ready with the release of its sequel titled ‘Rakta Charitra - 2’.

While Vivek Oberoi played the central character in ‘Rakta Charitra’, the sequel will have Tamil superstar Surya Sivakumar as the principal protagonist.

Synopsis
‘Rakta Charitra - 2’ will depict the rise of Pratap Ravi (Vivek Oberoi) in power and how he becomes a demigod for the poor and the oppressed.

Surya plays the role of Surya Narayana Reddy, aka Maddelacheruvu Suri, who has sworn revenge against Ravi as Ravi had destroyed his family.

The story will be based around the conspiracy theories surrounding assassination of Paritala Ravi in 2005. ‘Rakta Charitra - 2’ tells this blood ridden revenge story of Suri against Pratap Ravi.

As it is an action flick, there is not much scope for music. But still two songs ‘Patthar Ko’, sung by Sukhwinder Singh, and ‘Khel Shuru’, by Armaan Malik & Shree Kumar, are apt as per the theme of the film.

'Rakta Charitra - 2' has been scripted by Prashant Pandey and the action director of the film is Javed Eijaj.

Director’s take
When Ramu was asked, what was the driving factor behind making ‘Rakta Charitra’ in two parts, he replied, in his peculiar tone, that he wanted to project both sides of the coins rather than taking a one-dimensional view of the lives of his protagonists.

"When you make a film on Gandhi, you have to tell a story which is all about good. In Gandhi's film, you don't expect to hear Godse's side of the story since he doesn't feature there. However, if you make a film about Godse's life, you may hear an altogether different point of view,” said RGV.

Ramu further added, "When Ravi gets killed, you want to know the story of the man who killed him. What was his background, what forced him to take this drastic step, what was the driving force behind his act, was it really justified enough? There are so many questions to be asked and you can have them all answered only if you hear both sides of the story. Hence the reason behind two parts of the film.”

‘Rakta Charitra - 2’ is scheduled for release on Dec. 3, 2010 and it's Vivek Oberoi’s first release after his lavish wedding last month.

It will be very interesting to watch how Vivek fares in competition with Deepika and Abhishek's ‘Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Se’, releasing on Dec. 3.

Box-office predictions
The prequel of the movie was below average in Hindi heartland, but it did above average business in south to manage decent profits.

Fate of the sequel looks on the similar line, except it should do even better in south as Surya is playing main lead and that too first time in a Bollywood venture.
