Aish-Hrithik ‘Guzaarish’ bombed at the box-office

Filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali might have scraped up all the praises for the well garnished storyline in his Aish-Hithik starrer ‘Guzaarish’, but, sadly his latest prize got busted and couldn’t deliver the biggest opening at the box-office on the first day as expected.

Buzz has it that the overall collection tally on the first weekend was 14.5 crore only.

Hrithik’s performance of a quadriplegic magician might have been appreciated by theatre goers, however, it’s learnt that his latest film had made a lesser collection compared to his last bombed film ‘Kites’, which banked 30 crore on the opening weekend.

Metros liked ‘Guzaarish’
Apart from ‘Guzaarish’, even the other debut releases like ‘Shahrukh Bola Khoobsurat Hai Tu’ and ‘Deewangi Ne Hadh Kar Di’ didn’t generate any great collection during the weekend.

According to the latest reports, the sophisticated metros preferred Sanjay’s latest outing for its less cinematic appeal, realistic epicure and lesser masala.

The film might have made a forty crore loss on the opening day, but this hasn’t bogged down the filmmaker since he wants the audience to appreciate his film.

“Even if 40 people went for the film, I wanted them to appreciate it. Word of mouth would do the rest,” stated Bhansali.

Meanwhile speaking about his poignant film, the filmmaker further stated, "My films are not sad, they are liberating.”

Harry Potter makes ‘Guzaarish’ go unnoticed
The seventh installment of the book, this two part flick ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows,’ which released on Friday worldwide, managed to garner all the attention from the Indian audience than Sanjay’s ‘Guzaarish’.

‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows’ raked up a net collection of 11 crore in the opening weekend.
