YRF readying to launch Boney Kapoor’s son Arjun

It seems Yash Raj Films is keen on risking new actors rather than relying on Bollywood superstars for their upcoming movies. Reportedly, Arjun Kapoor, Boney Kapoor’s son with first wife, Mona, has been signed for a three film deal with the Yash Raj banner.

While YRF’s Dec. 10 release, ‘Band Baaja Baraat’ will be showcasing Ranvir Singh, also a debutante, in the lead role opposite Anushka Sharma, the filmmakers have signed another star kid, Arjun for their next release.

Earlier rumors were rife that daddy Boney Kapoor was planning a grand debut for his son in ‘Mr. India 2’, but now multiple tabloids have confirmed that Yash Raj Films will be launching Arjun into Bollywood with a big budget film.

Arjun Kapoor to debut in YRF’s next
After Sonam Kapoor, Ranbir Kapoor, Sonakshi Sinha and Luv Sinha (veteran actor Shatrughan Sinha’s kids), Shradhaa Kapoor (Shakti Kapoor’s daughter), Arjun is yet another star kid waiting to mark his debut in Bollywood.

The 24-year-old star son has previously assisted director Nikhil Advani in ‘Salaam-e-Ishq’ (2007) and ‘Kal Ho Na Ho’ (2003), and helped his father in projects like ‘No Entry’ (2009), ‘Wanted’ (2009), and ‘Milenge Milenge’ (2010).

A source close to the unit said, “Arjun’s launch in a YRF film instead of a Boney Kapoor one, is a safer and better bet any day. Besides, any Bollywood parent would want the best platform for his child.”

Arjun’s mom, Mona Kapoor who owns Future Studios, a shooting studio in Goregaon said, "I cannot say anything on this front now. Yash Raj Films will make a formal announcement."

When contacted, YRF official spokesperson said, “Yes, Arjun Kapoor has been signed up for a film with Yash Raj Films. We will make an announcement of our forthcoming films in January, 2011.”

Though the formal announcement will be made in January 2011, Rafiq Gangjee, VP, marketing and communications, YRF confirmed saying, "Yes, Arjun Kapoor has been signed for a film with YRF."

Interestingly, Arjun shares a close bond with Bollywood superstar Salman Khan, who is giving him fitness tips and helping him groom these days for a perfect launch in B-town.

If industry insiders are to be believed, Arjun was in a relationship with Salman’s sister, Arpita for quite sometime. The duo has broken up now, but Arjun still shares good relations with Khan’s family.
