Aishwarya’s smoking scene in ‘Guzaarish’ generates debate

A scene in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s upcoming venture ‘Guzaarish’, where Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai has been shown attempting to smoke, is a hot topic of debate and is generating lot of attention these days.

However, no one so far knows how authentic the whole scene is. Whether the former beauty queen, who always tries her best to stay steer clear of even minutest controversy, actually did it or not, is not clear.

Though, as per co-producer of ‘Guzaarish’ Siddharth Roy Kapoor, the scene is not worth so much controversy as in the scene she’s being shown making fun of the smoking and not promoting it in any way.

“It’s a non-issue for us. Technically, Ash is not really smoking in the scene. It’s a funny scene where she is trying to smoke. It’s a lighthearted and cute sequence that doesn’t propagate smoking at all. In fact, we are making fun of smoking,” said Kapoor, in his attempt to clear some controversy around the scene.

What the scene is all about
In the upcoming film ‘Guzaarish’, Aishwarya is playing the character of a nurse, who looks after Hrithik Roshan. Hrithik is playing the role of a magician, suffering from paraplegic and he too has some smoking scenes in the film.

In the particular scene, which is gathering so much attention for all wrong reasons, Aish and Hrithik are sitting in a car and Aish is trying to smoke.

As per sources familiar with the matter, in the scene Aish is trying to persuade Hrithik to give up smoking and when he refused then she decided to take up smoking herself.

When Aish was contacted to comment on this, she replied, "You saw what happened to me when I attempted smoking in the scene. I coughed and had tears in my eyes."

Bollywood beauties and smoking
Meanwhile, this is not the first scene in a film where an actress has been shown smoking for some or other reasons.

Rani Mukherji was seen litting up in ‘Bichoo’, Kareena did it in ‘Chameli’, Manisha Koirala in ‘Company’, and most recent examples Priyanka Chopra and Kangana Ranaut in ‘Fashion'.
