‘Anjaana Anajaani’, ‘Aakrosh’ release date postponed to October

After 18 long years of waiting, the Ayodhya case will be coming to an end this Friday, and it looks like filmmaker Sajid Nadiadwala and director Priyadarshan didn’t want to release their upcoming films ‘Anjaana Anajaani’ and ‘Aakrosh’ respectively on that day, since it was coinciding with the long delayed national issue.

Keeping in mind the situation, Sajid and Priyadarshan have rescheduled the dates of their films to an October release.

Akshay Khanna, Ajay mass appeal for peace
On second thoughts to postpone the release date of ‘Aakrosh,’ as it would affect the success of the film, Priyadarshan stated, “The Ayodhya verdict issue is likely to affect most of the Bollywood releases, not just Aakrosh. Other films are also going to delay their releases by at least a week. Also we did not want to clash with ‘Anjaana Anjaani.'"

Incidentally, since ‘Anjaana Anjaani’ has been scheduled to release on October 1st, Priyandarshan has now decided to release his Ajay and Akshay starring film ‘Aakrosh' to October 8th instead of releasing it on the same day.

Meanwhile, the lead actors of ‘Aakrosh,’ Ajay and Akshay Khanna echoed their concern to everyone to remain in peace and to give respect to the verdict, whatever it might be.

Sajid postponed ‘Anjaana Anajaani’ release for his lead stars
Buzz has it that the lead stars of ‘Anjaana Anajaani’ Ranbir and Priyanka had voiced their opinions to producer Sajid that it would be improper to release ‘Anjaana Anajaani’ on the Ramjanmabhoomi-Babri Masjid land dispute verdict on September 24th , as audiences would not be able to come and watch the film on that day.

Speaking about the Ayodhya verdict and the postponement of ‘Anjaana Anajaani’, Sajid stated, "At first, I was in a position where I needed to go ahead with the release. However, there's no denying that the Ayodhya issue is bigger and needs respect.

"Ranbir had brought it up and we have given it much thought. Ranbir is one of the most looked-up-to youth icons of our time and his point was a valid one. After having mutually discussed this, we have decided to release the film on October 1," he said.

The film celebrates life, and hence, releasing it on a peaceful day would be preferred, filmmakers concluded.
