Kangana opts out from ‘Midnight’s Children’

Tinsel town’s glamorous thespian Kangana Ranaut opted out from Deepa Mehta’s next direction, an adaptation of Salman Rushdie’s novel ‘Midnight’s Children’.

Reportedly, the actress has quit the project due to unavailability of dates as she is lined up with various projects in her kitty.

Deepa Mehta upset with Kangana’s decision
Indian-born-Canadian film director Deepa Mehta seemed to be quite upset with Kangana’s decision. She only wanted Kangana for the lead role, Emerald, as she thought Kangana will suit in the character very well.

In an earlier interview with Mumbai Mirror, the director revealed, “Yes, Kangna has agreed to be part of Midnight's Children. I think she's a wonderful actress, not quite like anyone else that I've worked with."

Kangana was supposed to enact the role of Emerald, a pretty and cryptic girl married to a young politician.

According to a source familiar with the matter, “Kangna did not have dates. She is very busy with Dhamaal 2, which goes on floors very soon.”

The director had approached Rani Mukherjee and Vidya Balan earlier, but both refused to take up the role.
