‘Peepli Live’ in theatres tomorrow

The fourth film from Aamir Khan Productions ‘Peepli Live’ is a film with satirical take on suicides committed by famers, political party’s response and media frenzy around every news even death.


Film’s story is written by Anusha Rizvi, who’s also making her directorial debut with it.

"It is a film on rural and urban divide. People like us who live in cities like Mumbai and Delhi should get to know a little about the realities of India. The film is based on that," said Rizvi in an interview.

Film’s music is mixture of folklore and Indian rock by Mathias Duplessy and rock band Indian Ocean, putting it on different path from commercial Hindi music with simple catchy songs like ‘Mehangai Dayan'.

Film boost of six songs in total including a remix.

Storyline of ‘Peepli Live’
'Peepli Live’s' story revolves around life of two poor farmer brothers Natha and Budhia, who lives in village named Peepli.

They are about to lose their land as they have failed to pay government loan on time.

When neither brother could come up with a solution to get out of their predicament, they went to a local politician for advice.

Politician advises them to exploit governments program that pay monetary compensation to the family of those farmers who commit suicide.

Now the question arises, which brother will sacrifice his life for the sake of family— Budhia or Natha. Budhia being the clever one urged Natha to do the right thing for family’s sake. Natha agrees reluctantly.

A journalist overhears the conversation between the brothers and from here on, media frenzy stirs up around whether Natha will commit suicide or not.

Soon enough, even local politicians jump on the bandwagon to get some piece of the ongoing action.
