‘I would love to play Anarkali's role’—Sonam Kapoor

Bollywood actress Sonam Kapoor, who’s out promoting her latest flick ‘Aisha’, revealed during a promotional press event for the film that if given a chance, she would love to portray the role of ‘Anarkali’, which was immortalized by then actress Mudhubala in ‘Mughal-e-Azam'.

“I love Mughal-e-Azam. It is one of my favorite films and I would love to play Anarkali's role if and when such a role is offered to me,” revealed Sonam candidly, when asked about her dream role.

Sonam revealed her wish to play ‘Anarkali’ at the promotional event organized in Delhi for her romantic comedy film ‘Aisha’, releasing on Aug. 6.

The actress attended the event along with cast members that included Ira Dubey, Cyrus Sahukar, Lisa Haydon, Amrita Puri, Arunoday Singh, and producer and sister Rhea Kapoor.

In the film ‘Aisha’, Sonam plays a girl, who’s obsessed with arranging other people’s love life. The story is loosely based on Jane Austen’s novel ‘Emma'.

Abhishek as Salim and Big B as Akbar
When tabloids asked Sonam, who she would like to be paired opposite if anyone will remake the classic film.

"I think Abhishek Bachchan would look really good as Salim,” said Sonam, who had worked with Jr. Bachchan in ‘Delhi 6’ that failed to leave any mark on the box office.

Without missing a beat, the 25-year-old actress added further, “Big B will be perfect for the role of Akbar.”

Ranbir better choice for Salim—younger sister Rhea
However, Sonam’s younger sister Rhea Kapoor, who’s debuting as a producer with upcoming ‘Aisha’, believes that Ranbir will be a better choice for the role of Salim.

"I think Ranbir (Kapoor) would be awesome. He is more shy and mushy and cute. Abhishek looks as though he can stand up to his father and fight for his love but Ranbir is quite sweet. I go for Ranbir," said Rhea.
