But one can safely say that ‘Peepli Live’s’ songs are refreshing, melodious, unpredictable and utterly mind-blowing with a hint of folk music in some of them.
Music Directors of ‘Peepli Live’ are Indian Ocean, Raghuveer Yadav, Nageen Tanvir and Ram Sampath. The lyrics have been written by Sanjeev Sharma, Noon Meem Rashed, Swanand Kirkire, Noon Meem Rashed and Gangaram Sakhet.
The film’s songs have been sung by Indian Ocean, Raghuveer Yadav, Brij Mandal, Bhadwai and Nageen Tanvir.
There are total six soundtracks in the film which also includes remixes.
The musical journey of ‘Peepli Live’ starts with ‘Des Mera’
‘Des Mera’ by Indian fusion rock band Indian Ocean is an upbeat and outstanding song with rustic folk influences. The song is taken from group’s album ‘Jhini’ that released in 2003 and is modified to suit film’s requirements.
There’s another version of ‘Des Mera’ with some western touches in the song.
‘Mehngai Dayan’ is a simple song sung by Raghuveer Yadav and is quite influenced by folk music. The song is satirical one as it takes shot on the ever increasing price rise and its influence on common man.
The song recently generated hype when opposition asked Aamir to let them use it airing election. There’s also a remixed version of the song in the album.
‘Chola Maati Ke Ram’ is sung by Nageen Tanvir, daughter of renowned theatre personality Habib Tanvir, in her deep soulful voice. The song is a philosophical song about death, inspired from the music of Chhattisgarh.
Finally, there’s 'Zindagi se darte ho' sung beautifully by Indian Ocean. The song is totally modern in its style and carriers essence of rock till the end.
The seven-minute long hard-hitting rock song is actually a poem by Noor Meem Rashed, which grabs attention instantly.
