Rahul Dholakia’s ‘Lamhaa’ in theatres tomorrow

After his National Award winning film, Parzania (2005) director – screenwriter Rahul Dholakia, has come up with quite a controversial film ‘Lamhaa’, which gives full weight to the moral complexities faced by Kashmiris. This hard-edged, realistic Kashmir-centric thriller, will debut in theatres nationwide tomorrow.

In Rahul’s previous film ‘Parzania’, he had captured the 2002 Gujarat Riots, and in his new film ‘Lamhaa’, the director has tried to unfold the story of Kashmir.

Rahul was inspired with the idea to make a film on the residents of Kashmir after he interacted with a few Kashmiri students, who called Kashmir a beautiful prison.

It took the director nearly two years to prepare for the new film, which included extensive research about Kashmir and its residents.

Starring in ‘Lamhaa’ are Sanjay Dutt, Bipasha Basu, Kunal Kapoor and Anupam Kher.

Synopsis
Rahul Dholakia has artfully constructed a political action thriller that borders on the uncertainties in the Kashmir valley.

Passionately and boldly made, the story revolves around retired Para commando, Vikram (played by Sanjay Dutt), who enters the Kashmir valley, determined to find out the truth about Pasha (on ground network) and destroy the man behind this operation.

Surprisingly, after entering the valley, Vikram comes across a separatist leader Haji (played by Anupam Kher), who incidentally escapes a blast.

In a cracking turn of events, Vikram comes in contact with Haji’s outspoken adopted daughter Aziza (played by Bipasha Basu) who works for the Haji’s organization, fighting for the perilous situation happening in Kashmir.

Eventually, both of them join hands to eliminate the destruction. Though good at what they do both are forced to put themselves in dangerous and reckless situations.

What follows from here are a series of twists and turns and the story unravels whether they will survive the near-death, blood thrusting battle that ensues and manage to expose the dirty truth behind the destruction in the valley.

What's new?
‘Lamhaa’ is a political action thriller, which the director clearly eyes, as a solid, real, safe bet as the film has been blended commercially for the bigger audience.

The story by nature is reality and fiction and is a well made action film that will certainly keep most movie goers on the edge of their seats.
