Shammi Kapoor to make cameo appearance in ‘Rockstar’

Bollywood’s legendary actor Shammi Kapoor is all set to make a cameo appearance in his grandnephew Ranbir Kapoor’s upcoming flick ‘Rockstar'.


The versatile actor of 60s confirmed the news of his cameo role in ‘Rockstar’ via a message posted on his Twitter page: "Am on flight to Delhi after a 7 year gap. Doing a cameo in Imtiaz Ali new film Rockstar with Ranbir. Am excited and nervous.”

This will be the first time that the 78-year-old veteran actor, who is wheel-chair bound, will be facing cameras once again after ten long years in Imtiaz Ali directed film on the music industry.

Ranbir has the lead role in the film. However, the female lead is yet-to-be finalized.

Shammi’s never dying love for acting
Shammi Kapoor, who in his time was known for his acting skills, vivaciousness, enthusiasm and dancing styles on screen, today is wheel-chair bound.

Not only this actor has to undergo dialysis thrice a week, however, none of it came between his love for acting, when Imtiaz came to him to request him to make cameo in ‘Rockstar’ and he immediately agreed.

This most certainly shows that his love for acting is far from over.

About 60s sensation Shammi
Shamsher Raj Kapoor, better known as Shammi Kapoor, was born on October 21, 1931, in Mumbai to film and theatre actor Prithviraj Kapoor. Shammi is Prithviraj’s second son and other two siblings are Raj Kapoor and Shashi Kapoor.

Shammi made his debut in Bollywood with film ‘Jeevan Jyoti’ in 1953. Because of doing lot of serious films, initially, Shammi got established as a serious actor but later he started experimenting with all kinds of genres.

In 1955, after a brief courtship, he married actress Geeta Bali, with whom he has two children. Tragedy struck Shammi when Geeta died due to small pox in 1966. Later, in 1969, he married to Neela Devi Gohil.

In his film career, Shammi has delivered hits like 'Dil Deke Dekho', 'Tumsa Nahin Dekha', 'Junglee', 'Dil Tera Diwana', 'Professor', 'China Town', 'Raj Kumar', 'Janwar', 'Teesri Manjil', 'Kashmir Ki Kali', 'Andaz', 'Vidhaata', 'Branmhachari' and 'An Evening in Paris'.

In 1970, due to weight issues, his career ended unexpectedly.
