Big B once again purchases plot of agricultural land in UP

Bollywood mega-star Amitabh Bachchan might not want to reveal that he has once again purchased a plot of agricultural land in Uttar Pradesh; however, an official on Sunday confirmed the news.

Big B recently purchased the land in Kakori area on the outskirts of Lucknow and to keep the deal under wraps, all the transactions were carried out through a power of attorney.

Even previous owner of the land, C.N. Dikshit came forward and confirmed that Amitabh has indeed bought the plot of land from him.

"Amitabh Bachchan has purchased 2.4 hectares of land in Muzaffarnagar village of Kakori; while part of the land is in the joint name of his wife and himself, another plot was purchased in the name of his son Abhishek," revealed Dikshit.

Reportedly, Bachchan paid around Rs. 1.55 crores for the land.

Details of the land purchase
As per sources familiar with the matter, Bachchan’s bought 23 bighas of land in just three days. Firstly on May 21, 9 bighas got registered in the name of Bachchan then on June 10, another 5 bighas were added and was registered in the name of his wife Jaya.

The very next day, another 9 bighas of land were registered in Abhishek's name.

Even regional sub-divisional magistrate Mahendra Singh admitted that Bachchans have purchased the land.

"The sale deed of the land purchased by the Bachchans was signed three days back and they have now applied for mutation, for which certain formalities are necessary; at present, I am getting the documents examined," said Singh.

Bachchan’s welcomed in Kakori
Bachchans faced criticism in 2006 for buying plot of agricultural land in Barabanki district of Uttar Pradesh, about 35km from Lucknow. But this time, no one around is complaining.

As the news of Bachchans having purchased land in Kakori spread, many expressed their heartfelt joys.

“We welcome the Bachchans here to this historic land,” said a local physician Mohanlal Rawat.
