A complaint was lodged by Pati, along with her mother, at the Women's Police Station in Bhubaneswar for “mental and physical torture”.
“I suffered from weakness and was hospitalized” -- Pati
Nearly 10,200 applications were received for the contest. Out of those, 60 were shortlisted and further 30 girls for the contest were finally shortlisted. Ipsita Pati was one of the 30 contestants.
She alleges that the organizers removed her out of the final list at the last moment saying that she was “under-weight”, and she was replaced by another contestant from West Bengal.
Pati weighed 53 kilos when she came to join the pageant on April 24 but lost her weight to 45 kilos. She even alleged that the organisers did not allow her to meet her parents during the entire grooming process and also discriminated against her.
"The diet prescribed by the dietician was horrible," Pati alleged in her FIR, according to The Hindustan Times.
"I suffered from weakness and was hospitalised. However, the promoters did not let me speak to my family members. It was not allowed during the grooming session. I was feeling miserable,” Ipsita Pati added.
Ipsita Pati went to the CM of Orissa
Ipsita Pati and her mother went to seek help from the Chief Minister of Orissa, Naveen Patnaik.
Pati, who comes from the Ganjam district of Orissa, has also won Miss South India title in 2008.
The owner of the pageant, former Miss Universe 1994 and Bollywood's Sushmita Sen, did not comment on the issue.
