Bollywood’s biggest stars not to attend 2010 IIFA Awards?

According to the latest tabloids reports, Bollywood’s biggest stars are considering skipping this year’s IIFA Awards ceremony to be held in Colombo, Sri Lanka, due to the controversy revolving around it.

Reportedly, superstars like Shah Rukh Khan, Ranbir Kapoor, Rajnikanth, Kamal Haasan and the whole Bachchan clan including brand ambassador of IIFA for more than ten year’s, Big B, have made up their mind not to attend the function.

IIFA Awards function will commence on June 3 and will go on till June 5 and stars like Lara Dutta, Vivek Oberoi, Bipasha Basu and Boman Irani are among those who have already reached the venue.

Reason behind Big B’s decision to skip IIFA
Mega-star Amitabh Bachchan has been associated with IIFA Awards from the very beginning and the actor is well-known for attending the event year after year without a miss.

But this time he is busy shooting for promotional campaign for Gujarat Tourism and sources are claiming that it is highly unlikely that he will wrap up the shoot on time to attend IIFA.

“It looks difficult for him. Unless he makes a last minute change and reaches Colombo it is quite unlikely that he will go for IIFA. He is still shooting in Gujarat,” revealed a source familiar with the matter.

SIFCC threat behind many stars refusal to attend the coveted function?
Citing one reason or other, all the big stars in the Bollywood have found reason to justify their absence from this year’s IIFA Awards function commencing in Sri Lanka.

However, trade analysts believe that their decision could be more related to South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce’s recent threat.

Apparently, the South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce has strongly condemned Bollywood’s indifferent attitude towards Tamils plight and had issued an open threat that they will not be screening the films of any of the star who will attend this year’s IIFA in Colombo.

"Sri Lankan government will use this and project that peace is back. India itself is hosting a program in Lanka, while thousands have been killed," said L Suresh, President, South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce.

Do the south Indians still want the bombs to be blasted around Sri Lanka and to see continued missiles shooting day and night. What they need? Are they not ready to accept a peace in a country like Sri Lanka?
Sorry, you already lost your game man.
