Reports claim that Star Plus has decided to launch a desi version of the hit American television series, ‘Top Chef’ which is currently in its seventh season and Akshay Kumar has been roped in to host the same.

The original series is hosted by top model, Padma Lakshmi and is a huge hit worldwide and now Star Plus wants to create the same magic, with the show in India.

A source reveals,“He’s bugged with Endemol and Colors. But he believes in having healthy competition in every space he enters. “

“So, probably when he sits with the channel personnel to finalise the remaining details of his Top Chef show, he will formally ask the channel to air it in August-September when Priyanka’s show goes on air,” adds the source.

But this may not be possible as the channel will want to put the show in their weekend slot.

“ With Akshay as a host, the channel may want to strengthen their weekend slot further since it is currently going strong with Zara Nachke Dikha with Shilpa Shetty as one of the co-judges. We’ll have to wait and watch,” says a source.

No comments were however made by Akshay’s spokesperson.

Following the success of ‘Housefull’, Akshay Kumar is ready to be back on the silver screen with debutant director, David Gower’s next flick titled ‘Housefull’.

Akshay plays a British Sikh shopworker in the movie who dreams of being a bowler for England’s cricket team.

Former England skippers John Emburey, Graham Gooch and Nasser Hussain also make special cameo appearances in this movie. Hard Kaur, the renowned rap singer plays Akshay’s sister in the film. She was also sung two songs in the much-awaited movie.

The Oval, Lord's, Tent Bridge and Southall are some of the destinations the movie will be shot in.

The film is expected to release this November and Akki fans will see the actor in a new avatar.
