‘Munnabhai’ series to be scrapped?

According to the latest tabloids reports, it is likely that the makers of the “Munnabhai” series will shelve the idea of making a third part for the lack of right script for the film.

Reportedly, the talented trio comprising of director Raj Kumar Hirani, Vidhu Vinod Chopra and Abhijaat Joshi, responsible for creating the iconic character, are having a tough time finding a way to keep the much-loved franchise going.

As per some sources, the trio is so fed up of finding script for the next installment that they have started concentrating more on their current projects.

Despite all this, the sequel to Munnabhai has become the hot topic of discussion in the industry circles these days.

Film’s third sequel canned due to already used idea?
Some tabloid papers are also reporting that the makers of the ‘Munnabhai’ films canned the idea after finding out that their idea is similar to the one used by SRK in his film “My Name Is Khan.”

As per a source familiar with the matter, “Since Raju and Vinod had to can the ‘Munnabhai Chale Amrika’ script after their idea was used in Karan Johar’s ‘My Name in Khan’, these two filmmakers have mentally drawn the curtains on Munnabhai.”

But nothing is confirmed yet as, so far, no official statement has been released by the makers of the popular franchise.

Sanjay Dutt telling a different story
Sanjay Dutt, who became an icon overnight after the release of ‘Munnabhai MBBS”, recently said during a press conference that the idea of making third installment of the film is very much on.

As per Dutt, Hirani, after finding the similarities in script with other film, is busy making changes in it.

“I think we’ll start by April 2011. The second Munnabhai film was better than the first. Now the third has to be better than the second,” revealed Sanjay.

Recently, reports suggested that Vidhu Vinod Chopra is against taking the aging star in the main lead of Munnabhai.
