Salman maintained the statement he had given before the judge 10-years ago in the case in which city police alleged in 2001 that the underworld’s money was involved in the making of the film CCCC.
"He had given a police statement regarding the persons he had met before the making of the CCCC movie over 10 years ago. He was called to confirm the statements before the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act today (on Thursday)," said Salman’s father Salim Khan.
Salman not acquainted with Fazlani
According to sources, Salman Khan stood in the witness box for half an hour and answered all the questions fired at him by the prosecution.
The prosecution has called the actor as a witness against Chhotta Shakeel’s henchman Anjum Fazlani. But Salman maintained that he might have met Fazlani once or twice but does not remember him.
According to prosecution, Fazlani had threatened the star with dire consequences if he did not reduce his fees for the producer of CCCC Nasim Rizvi.
However, Salman said that only Rizvi and his assistant had approached him for the film and on one threatened him for reducing his fees.
So far Salman and actress Preity are the only two people who have not turn hostile in the much hyped case.
Controversy surrounding CCCC
The controversy started when Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) seized prints of movie “Chori Chori Chupke Chupke” after discovering that the funds for the film have come from underworld.
Bharat Shah, well-known diamond merchant, CCCC’s producer Rizvi and his assistant Allahbaksh along with Dubai-based gangster Mohammad Shamsuddin were accused in the case.
As per CBI, Rizvi and Shah were making the movie on the instance of absconding gangster Chhota Shakeel.
After this, the court ordered to deposit the income generated from the movie in the government treasury till matter is resolved.
The payment is Rs. 1.5 crore.
