Amitabh is set to make an appearance at the esteemed all-India Marathi literary meet scheduled in Pune. The literary meet will be held from March 26 to 28. He will take the chair on the last day of the meet.
The legendary Bollywood actor will also read verses from ‘Madhushala’, the eternal poems of his late father Harivansh Rai Bachchan.
Responding to the question about Amitabh’s presence at the meet, the president of Punyabhushan Foundation and the organizer of the meet, Satish Desai stated, “On Friday evening, we got confirmation about his attendance for the meet. His office sent us a fax saying he will be present for the meet on March 28.”
“Bachchan is flying out of the country (to London to attend the BAFTA ceremony) on Friday and will be back next week. The other details will be finalized after his arrival,” elaborated Desai.
On Wednesday Satish Desai along with his committee members and the program comparers Sudhir Gadgil and Prakash Paigude, met Bachchan at his office to officially invite him for the Sahitya Sammelan.
The chief minister of Maharastra Ashok Chavan will also be present for the function on March 28.
Desai stated, “As the meet is happening in the golden jubilee year of the foundation of Maharashtra state, it has a special significance.”
ABCL will produce more Marathi films
ABCL Corporation’s Marathi film Vihir supposedly ran to a full house at the recently concluded 60th Berlin Film festival. Vihir was directed by Umesh Kulkarni.
Recently, Amitabh also expressed his desire to direct more Marathi films in future.
